FUND RAISING PROGRAM

First and foremost, thank you for your support of the Baltimore County Professional Fire Fighters Association.

For many years, Local 1311 has consistently supported various community events, such as Victims Assistance and After-the-Fire Programs, the Elementary School Poster Contest, Smoke Detectors for residents, etc.  (Please see the entire list below.)

For the past seventeen years we have used the method of hosting semi-annual concerts to raise funds for these programs.  As that contract ended, we decided instead to go with direct-donations from the public.  After much research, we have chosen to go with Tri-State Funding which contacts the businesses and residents in our community.  Their local office phone is 410-665-8409 and 410-665-8605, and you can also reach them via email.

Tri-State calls businesses and residents on behalf of the Baltimore County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics, and publish a semi-annual magazine entitled  "America's Frontline."  This magazine includes a wealth of advice and information for fire prevention and safety tips, as well as a listing of our Sponsors.  Contributions from businesses are picked up in person by an authorized courier.  Courier service is also provided for our loyal residential sponsors, as well as the option to mail donations direction to our office (52 Scott Adam Road in Cockeysville, 21030).

PROUD TO SERVE

The Baltimore County Fire Department consist of professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics who respond to you in your time of need. Whether you have a fire or medical emergency, we're there because we care.

When called to respond to your emergency, Fire Fighters and Paramedics work in extreme conditions, and in all types of weather, on the highways and in homes, to provide EMS and Fire Suppression services to you, our neighbors.

WHAT WE DO

The Fire Fighters and Paramedics must wear over 40 pounds of protective clothing in order to extinguish a fire. With this gear, they must climb ladders, pull hoses, and rescue persons from burning buildings. Fire Fighters are trained and retrained in all principles of extinguishing fires, and are nationally certified to the highest level.

Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians in Baltimore County respond to over 70,000 calls for aid each year. These professionals respond to your medical emergencies and provide the highest level of care available. Our EMS personnel are certified and must maintain that certification on a yearly basis which requires over 150 hours of training.

THE FIRE SERVICE

Combined, the Fire Service and EMS respond to over 103,000 calls a year. Our coverage area is 610 square miles, and we serve 700,000 citizens throughout Baltimore County. We staff 26 fire engines, 8 ladder trucks, 25 advanced life support transport units, and 8 EMS supervisor units.

Your fire service is on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and is ready to respond within 60 seconds with the highest level of certification and training available. We also provide advanced tactical rescue, hazardous material response teams, and marine unit (rescue boat) operations.

Programs Supported by our Fund Raising

SMOKE DETECTORS

Fire gases cause 75% of fire-related deaths in house fires.  Our Association gives free smoke detectors to Baltimore County residents in need.  If need be, we’ll even install it for you.

REGIONAL BURN CENTER

We have raised thousands of dollars to support the International Regional Burn Center, as well as the Metropolitan Regional Burn Center.

AFTER-THE-PROM PROGRAM

We are very proud to be the largest single contributor to this worthy program which helps to keep our children safe and provides them with a place to go after that special event.

FIRE PREVENTION POSTER CONTEST

Local 1311 was responsible for the creation of the Poster Contest held in elementary schools throughout Baltimore County, and remains a primary sponsor of this annual event.

VICTIMS ASSISTANCE

Members of our Department provide 24/7 coverage to citizens who suffer losses caused by domestic fires. We provide certificates for food, clothing, and toys along with emotional support in their time in need. We have given well over $45,000 in assistance by raising funds during our off-duty hours.

EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS

Through our fund raising efforts, Fire Fighters and Paramedics are assisted with attending seminars and receiving special training on the latest technology in Fire and EMS issues.

MEMBERS ASSISTANCE

We also assist our members and their families when they have serious illnesses or lose a loved one in the line of duty.

STRONGER LAWS

Local 1311 works very hard on behalf of our Fire Fighters and Paramedics to secure safer working conditions to help prevent injuries and deaths in the line of duty.

M.D.A. & UNITED WAY

Our members have spent a combined total of 4,500 hours soliciting over $1 Million Dollars for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Our members also regularly contribute to the United Way in a generous way.

Public Education

TEACH THE CHILDREN

Whether on duty or off, our members are very active in all aspects of fire prevention and community service. We work to educate children both in school and at their local libraries. We even provide the necessary education materials.

FIRE PREVENTION WEEK

During Fire Prevention Week (October), we provide booklets and materials to every child in Baltimore County's public elementary schools.  Ideally, the children will work on the papers in class and at home in order to earn Fire Prevention badges.  The literature also includes directions on E.D.I.T.H. (below).

PRACTICE E.D.I.T.H.

“Exit Drills In The Home.” Be sure your family has a plan to get everyone safely out of the home in case of fire. Know where the fire exits are in your workplace, too.

We are here for you

After 9-11, our Fire Fighters and Paramedics responded immediately to offer professional assistance to the search and rescue efforts, and collected donations from both within and without the Department to help support our brothers and sisters in New York.

After Hurricane Hugh, our Fire Fighters and Paramedics collected over 18 tons of food and clothing within 36 hours to be sent to victims of the hurricane’s victims.

We live in your neighborhood; we are husbands, wives, sons, and daughters. We are the ones who come to your aid – when you most need it. We are the Baltimore County Fire Fighters Association.
