 BLOOD DRIVE WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2

Dear Members,

THANK YOU to the many members who turned out last week, we were able to donate SEVENTEEN units of whole blood!  Mind you, that wasn't quite the 50 we were hoping for (!), but we did have more people come out this time around (alas, a few rejections ... take your vitamins, folks!).

As soon as we confirm the date for our next life-saving event, we'll post it here.  Again, many thanks, and we look forward to seeing you next time!

Tom Ramey, 1st Trustee

THE NEXT UNION BLOOD DRIVE WILL BE IN OCTOBER.  If you missed our drive earlier this month, fire & police personnel (only) can donate on June 23rd from 0830-1400 hrs at the PSB ... and there will be more than 56 days in between so you (and anybody else!) can donate again in October.  Right now there is a critical need for O Negative, so please check your blood type and consider saving a life!

For those of you who participated in our Blood Drive on February 3, THANK YOU!!!  We donated 16 units of whole blood despite the snow!

Did you know that just one pint of blood can save up to three lives, and that 4.5 million Americans would die each year without life saving blood transfusions?  Did you also know that, on average, only three out of every 100 people in America donate blood?  We can help change that!

The Local will once again sponsor a BLOOD DRIVE on Wednesday, June 2, from 9 am to 3 pm at the Union Hall in Cockeysville.  Our goal this round is to have representation from each and every career station throughout Baltimore County.  (Please see the chart below and make sure your station is signed up!)

Please mark your calendars now for Wednesday, June 2.  Schedule an appointment at www.redcrossblood.org/make-donation, or call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767).  (You can also call Elizabeth at the Union Office.)  Our SPONSOR CODE is 16184.  Be sure to drink plenty of fluids that day.  Eat properly.  Sleep well.  Come to the UNION HALL between 9 am and 3 pm, and DONATE YOUR BLOOD!!!  Refreshments provided.

During the month of June, every donor will receive a pack of Red Cross Baseball Cards, which can be redeemed online to reveal a Single, Double, Triple, or Home Run Prize, such as Red Cross gear and gift cards!  To learn more about making your donation, visit www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood.

This drive is open to Union Members and their Friends & Family, Fire Department Employees, Baltimore County Residents, and anyone who cares to donate!

Blood:  The  Gift that Keeps on giving!  Donate in honor or memory of a loved one; donate in celebration of a birthday or recovery from surgery; donate in thanks for all the blessings we have as Americans who can and do help!

Any more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.  I look forward to seeing you on June 2, if not before.

Fraternally,

Tom Ramey
