There are 704 retired fire
personnel. Of these, 533 belong to the BCRFO&FFA. This
Association also keeps in contact with 77 widows through our social
activities and the monthly newsletter. Many of our Retirees are also
Retired-Active members of Local 1311. Over the past year our membership
has grown due to the many retirements from the Fire Department. All
retired personnel, regardless of rank, are welcome to join.
James Westervelt
has agreed to serve as Chaplain for our Association. We would like
to take this space to thank Jim for so generously giving of his time and energy
to administer this much-needed service.
The Association has its own
email address which can be
accessed for any business subjects. NO JOKES or forwarded chain
emails/stories, etc., PLEASE!!!!
As many of you already know, Clyde Heath has kindly
taken on the job of setting up our own
Retirees' web page. We are glad to have a page on the Local's web
site, and will update it on occasion or as needed, but for more detailed and
timely information, be sure to set up our new site as a Favorite! Also, we
want YOUR input as to the content of the new site. Please let us know what
you think of it and what you'd like to see on it!

Everyone:

- First Friday Club ~
A group of our Retirees have been meeting on the first Friday of every month
for quite some time now, and the group continues to grow. There is no
meeting agenda; in fact, no obligations at all. Just show up, eat, and
see some of your old buddies. The group calls itself "The First Friday
Club." Everyone is welcome, retired or not. The group takes
great joy in seeing past friends and new acquaintances. The meeting is
at Cactus Willie's on Route 140 in Westminster. They get started
around
12 noon 11:00 a.m. and finish ... whenever! For information you can
contact Wayne Seidlich at 410-876-1917 or 410-598-3704.
- Fourth Thursday Club ~
This group has the same agenda as the First Friday Club (that is, no
meeting agenda; in fact, no obligations at all), but meets on the EAST side
of the County. Just show up, eat, and
see some of your old buddies. Everyone is welcome, retired or not. The group takes
great joy in seeing past friends and new acquaintances. The meeting is
held at The Golden Corral at the Eastpoint Mall. They get started around
11:00 a.m. and finish ... whenever. For
information you can contact Cleve Reynolds or Jay Sonntag.

- Survivor's Fund ~ The
Retirees' Association
administrates the Baltimore County Fire Department Survivor's Fund. We
would like to remind everyone to please make sure your
beneficiary's/survivor's information is correct and up-to-date. If you
have had any changes recently, such as divorce, death, marriage, etc., we
urge you to file a new form. You
can find this here (MS Word Doc). Please do the same with
the Local's forms (also a MS Word Doc)
... in fact, even if you haven't had any changes, if you haven't submitted
information in the last five years, then you want to send in a new form
anyway (the newer forms require more information and are much more useful
when the Local has to distribute those funds).

equal to $1.00 per member of the Department. For information call
410-887-4511. (Revised August 22, 2001).
If the death is deemed Line of Duty, your
