How does this affect my retirement benefits?
Once you stay employed past that date (the 27th pay period
listed above), that will remain as your Average Final Compensation ... until you
work another consecutive 12 months that give you a higher total dollar
value. Once you reach your AFC, it will never reduce, it will only go
higher with the cost of living, longevity, etc.
